A MORPETH family have completed a four-day cycling challenge for charity.

John Dryden, his son Ian and future son-in-law Kris Wood successfully travelled 140 miles from Whitehaven to Tynemouth.

As well as supporting St Oswald’s Hospice, the ride was a tribute to John’s mother Audrey because in 1950 she and his dad Ken cycled from Whitley Bay to London and back in 10 days a few months before they got married.

John Dryden said: “We thoroughly enjoyed the experience, despite the fact that it was quite gruelling at times.

“By the time we close our JustGiving page, we hope to have raised around £600 for the hospice.”
