Firefighters are still on the scene, following a major blaze at a Northumberland farm yesterday.
The fire erupted in a barn, containing heavy plant equipment and hay bales, at Throphill Farm, Mitford. Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) was alerted to the incident at 3.41pm and six appliances - two each from Pegswood, West Hartford and Tyne and Wear - attended the incident. A NFRS spokeswoman said that, initially, crews had two jets and four breathing apparatus in use.
Two crews - one from Pegswood and another from West Hartford - had been on the scene this morning, but now, just the Pegswood crew remains at the site. The NRFS spokeswoman said that the firefighters are breaking up hay bales.
