A fitting tribute to the country’s troops took place in Widdrington Station on Armed Forces Day on Saturday.

The Royal British Legion Standard, carried by Vanessa Gray, was led by piper Colin Sutherland. Naval cadets and local groups were in the procession from the Co-op to the Community Centre and Robson Rochester conducted a small service.

The event, organised by Widdrington and Stobswood Parish Council, also included stalls and a sing-a-long in the centre.
