POST office services are set to be restored for villagers.
A new Post Office ‘local’ service will open at Lynemouth convenience store M&I Cullen.
The facility in Albion Terrace is 550m away from the previous Lynemouth Post Office at West Market Street, which closed last August when the sub-postmaster resigned.
Work has been ongoing since to find an alternative solution.
The new facility will run from an open plan counter, with services available alongside the shop’s normal retail business.
Customers will be able to make use of a wide range of post office services, including automated banking, bill and budget payment schemes, the Post Office Card Account, and postage services.
Regional Network Manager Sue Richardson said: “We understand how important having a post office is to residents in Lynemouth and I am pleased to announce that we have found a new operator in the area that will enable us to restore a post office service.
“While a decision to establish a new branch in Lynemouth has already been made, we would still like your views on the service offer at the new location.
“Post Office local is a new concept for delivering Post Office services from an open plan counter, with Post Office products and services available alongside retail transactions during shop opening hours, allowing Post Office services to be available for longer, offering greater convenience to customers.”
The opening hours for the service will be Monday to Saturday, 6.30am to 7pm, and Sundays, from 6.30am to 12.30pm.
