Nothing but the highest standards will do for a village creative competition.
For residents in Mitford have been tasked with designing a new village flag.
The contest is open to all and entries must include the word Mitford, feature the Mitford Crest and ensure any images relate to the area.
The winner will be announced at the Village Fair in June when they will be invited to take part in a flag-raising ceremony.
Mitford Estates is sponsoring the competition and has donated a flagpole.
The annual fair began as a street party for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012, but was so popular that residents asked if it could be a yearly fixture.
This year’s event takes place on the Village Green on June 21, at 2pm, and will be opened by Coun Glen Sanderson.
It will feature a classic car display, maypole dancing, a bouncy castle, shows, stalls, a barbecue and bar, and end with the annual Tug of War contest between Mitford and Meldon for the Knot Trophy.
The flag competition deadline is Wednesday, April 30. For further details, email mit email@example.com
