A MORPETH beauty spot is in the running for a national accolade.

After retaining its Green Flag status, Carlisle Park is eligible for Keep Britain Tidy’s Park of the Year award, which will be decided by a public vote.

Northumberland County Council is urging residents to go online and choose one of six parks with Green Flag status – the others are in Hexham (Hexham Parks), Bedlington (Doctor Pit Park and Plessey Woods Country Park), Seaton Deleval (Astley Park) and Ashington (Hirst Park).

The deadline to vote – at www.greenflagaward.org.uk – is noon on Tuesday.
