Plans to create a new access to Loansdean Wood have been opposed by councillors.
An application has been submitted to demolish part of a wall and install a 6ft gate from the garden of a home into a visitor parking area in The Kylins to provide disabled access.
However, the Kylins Residents Association and several residents have objected as the wall was specifically included in the original Loansdean Wood development plan, drawn up with input by existing residents, to prevent the new home owners from parking in The Kylins.
Now Morpeth Town Council’s Planning and Transport Committee has also opposed the work.
Coun David Parker said: “A document was produced which informed the planning process and one of the things was that there was to be no gates on The Kylins side. This application must be resisted at all costs. If this was allowed then all sorts of gates would be put in.”
The committee voted to object by three votes to one, with one abstention.
