Woman assaulted

POLICE are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted in Lynemouth, suffering head and facial injuries.

The 29-year-old was taken to Wansbeck General Hospital after the incident on Oakland Terrace.

Officers were called to the village at 12.35am on Tuesday, December 27, following reports of a fight.

A 25-year-old man and 19-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to commit grievous bodily harm and have been bailed pending further inquiries.

The victim’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident as they may have information to assist ongoing inquiries.
