Morpeth and District Soroptimists

Morpeth and District Soroptimists invited Guide Leader Claire Rivett to attend their meeting to tell members all about the exciting trip she is going on next year.

Hundreds of applicants went through a rigorous selection process in order to be chosen to go to the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in Japan in 2015. Claire was delighted to be one of the lucky ones and will represent Northumberland.

At this event will be thousands of Guides and Scouts from all around the world. They will have the opportunities to meet, talk and take part in lots of activities, and of course make many friends.

Claire said she was a Morpeth girl and had been a guide for many years before going to university. She is now back in the area and hopes the experience gained in Japan will help her inspire the next generation of girls.

Claire has to raise a large sum of money to enable her to go to Japan. Morpeth Soroptimists presented her with a donation and hope when she returns she will tell us all about it.

It brought back a lot of happy memories for many of our members and we all wished her well and thought wistfully about our younger selves.
