Students from The King Edward VI School took to the town’s market place at the weekend in a bid to be crowned the KEVI Christmas market winner 2015.

Twenty teams from the school took part in the festive event to show they’ve got what it takes to run a successful business with stalls ranged from selling cupcakes to dream catchers and one-off prints.

The students traded throughout the day from 9am and were judged by local successful business man Richard Rutherford, owner of Rutherfords of Morpeth, and Neil Brown, the county wide markets manager, in a bid to win the £300 prize money.

Picking the winner proved difficult due to the standard of the stalls being so high this year, but during the day’s trading, the The Night Before Christmas was named as the best business idea.
