SIR, — In 1910 my grandfather, Thomas Allan, had a violin shop at 174 Hawthorn Road, Hirst, Ashington, and I am trying to trace any of his violins made between 1900 and 1928 when he emigrated with his family to Australia.
The labels inside the violins probably say 'Tom Allan' as the maker with a date. Any information could be sent to me at b.fox@usyd.edu.au
