Warenford v Mitford
MITFORD made it three wins on the bounce with this comprehensive demolition of Warenford on Saturday.

Warenford won the toss and sent Mitford into bat, a decision they were soon to regret.

With usual opener Ellinor missing, Mitford were looking for a big performance from someone — and they were not to be disappointed.

Crowe and Dunn quickly moved the score on to 50 before Dunn perished, caught behind.

Well supported by Davis, Crowe sprayed the ball to all parts of the ground soon passing 50. The partnership quickly topped 100 with Crowe dominating.

Continuing to grow in confidence, 'the doctor,' proved that age is no barrier bringing up a fine century by blasting the ball back past the bowler for four.

Looking to push the score on Crowe eventually fell for 107, a brilliant knock including ten fours and two sixes.

With Mitford looking to break the 200 mark for the first time this season, Wahab Barrakatt, noted for his speed between the wickets, energetically strode to the crease.

What followed made Kevin Pieterson's run scoring look pedestrian and snail-like.
Barrakatt converted four maximums and four fours in a 20 ball 47 to push Mitford to 247–3 after 45 overs, with Davis, for the second time this season, finishing with an unbeaten 37.

Mitford, having been on the receiving end of Warenford's strong batting line-up before, realised a good bowling performance was needed to finish the job.

The openers quickly moved the score past 50, but Lawson and Lees were unperturbed.

Lawson struck first and when Lees, fresh from his early morning net session, removed the off stump of the dangerous Thompson, Mitford looked on course for victory.

Wickets continued to fall and with Warenford on 107, and nine down, Phil Wade was brought into the attack for his first over of the season. One ball later it was all over, the ball, pitching a foot outside off stump and ripping back into the batsman, was looped to the shovels of the prowling M. Lees at mid off.

Despite the good bowling performance, the day belonged to Crowe registering his first century in the Alnwick and District League after 33 long and follicle free years.

Mitford 247–3 (C.Crowe 107, W. Barrakatt 47, A. Davis 37*, T. Dunn 33).
Warenford 107 (K. Thompson 42, M. Lees 3–46, S. Lawson 4–34).
