SATURDAY'S Northumberland Schools' Track and Field Championships held at Gateshead's International Stadium saw easy wins for Morpeth Harriers Laura Weightman and Deborah Oakley, and an excellent second place gained in a tough Intermediate Boys' 1500m by Alistair Douglass.
Weightman was unopposed in the Senior Girls' 1500m where she clocked 4m33.9s, and Oakley was likewise in the Intermediate Girls' 3000m clocking 12m00.4s.
Douglass was only three seconds adrift of outright victory with his clocking of 4m22.0s.
• Archie Jenkins of Morpeth Harriers finished second in the Over 50 Men's 1500m in 4m54.2s at the third meeting of the Veteran Athletics Association Track and Field League at Monkton Stadium, Jarrow on Monday night.
In the Over 40 Men's 1500m, Morpeth Harriers Alistair MacDonald and Neil McAnany finished seventh and ninth in respective times of 4m52.5s and 4m57s. MacDonald also finished sixth in the 400m in 63.1s.
