A FAMOUS golfer passed on his expertise at a Castle Morpeth golf club and to round the day off the Ryder Cup was unveiled at a special dinner.
Former Open and Masters Champion Sandy Lyle held a golf clinic at The Macdonald Linden Hall Golf and Country Club and a tournament took place on the championship course.

The world-famous trophy was then on display at the evening dinner, which included former PGA Secretary and Ryder Cup referee David Wright as an after-dinner speaker, and there was a question and answer session with him and Lyle.

Geoff Dixon, Director of Golf at Linden Hall, said: "It was a fantastic double coup to get both Sandy Lyle and the Ryder Cup to Linden Hall. The sold out event was certainly an indication that people in the North East are passionate about golf as a favourite past-time, and deservedly so.

"We had a fantastic response to the event and definitely hope to repeat the tournament in the future."
