Morpeth II v Benwell Walbottle
MORPETH found themselves without key players Laurence Brown and Jamie Forster.

Their opponents were top of the league and the in-form team to beat. Morpeth loss the toss and were put in to bat.

Jevons and Allison for Benwell kept tight lines an
d were not easy to get away with the first wicket falliong with only on 30 on the board.

Paul Jackson stole the show with an impressive return to form, hitting 73 before being caught on the boundary at deep square leg, leaving Morpeth at 140 for six after a tumble of wickets. The tail end added a reasonable 44 and Morpeth batted out the 45 overs for 184.

Morpeth entered the field with a tight game plan, Paul Jackson and Ben Jones opening the bowling. Jackson was frustrated, despite bowling well, and Jones took the initial breakthough wicket of M. Green for just nine runs, caught at point.

But Morpeth were made to rue dropped catches and tension mounted as chance after chance went begging.

W. Aslam, who was dropped twice, went on to score an undefeated 96 as Benwell hit their target with two overs and six wickets to spare.
