TWO Morpeth schools came out on top in the first Morpeth and Ponteland School Sports Partnership Golf Championships.
Rothbury Golf Club played host to 50 club golfers from six schools competing in either the 18-hole competition for high schools or the nine-hole event for middle schools.

The players had perfect conditions in both weather and course, resulting in many good scores. Prizes were available for individuals, but the main event was for the team shields.

King Edward VI School were successful in the high school team event, closely followed by Ponteland High School.

In the Middle School tournament, Chantry were run away winners with all scores being well under handicap.

This event built on the successful introduction of Tri-golf into local First Schools and the development of Extreme golf into Middle Schools, with the aim of introducing the sport to non-golfers.
