A CASTLE Morpeth young golfer came runner-up in a Pro-Am tournament at Matfen Hall.
Three young people linked up with a professional golfer to form teams for the event — part of Northern Rock's golf festival 'The Rock' — and Lewis Cochrane of Linden Hall was on the team of US PGA Tour golfer Ken Ferrie that came second.
The winning quartet was led by Simon Edwards, while the individual professional award for the day went to Matfen's very own Director of Coaching, John Harrison.
The professionals then went on to play a three-day tournament for the Northern Rock Trophy.
Alongside the Pro-Am tournament, over 250 youngsters aged between five and 16 received free golf lessons with PGA professional golfers, whilst the Golf Foundation provided Tri Golf sessions for more than 40 under five's throughout the day, meaning more than 380 youngsters in total took part in the Junior Festival.
