SUNDAY'S scheduled Rocky Stone Memorial Cup final at Craik Park fell foul of the weather.
Morpeth Town were forced to cancel their FA Cup tie with Ryton on Saturday due to the waterlogged surface and Morpeth's own charity competition, sponsored by Jennings of Morpeth suffered as a consequence.

Surprisingly, Thursday night's semi-finals both got the green light.

Stobhill Social Club, the holders, overcame an early goal by Riverside Social Club to lead 3-1 at half time. They added another counter in the second half to run out 4-1 winners of an entertaining, if muddy, match at Storey Park.

Waterford Lodge will feel they were 'mugged' by Black Bull at the Common. Leading 2-0 they surely had visions of a final appearance.

However, Black Bull had other ideas, and equalised 2-2 to force extra time.

This proved further stalemate and in the ensuing penalty shoot-out, the Bull pinched the tie with a 4-2 penalty score-line.

So it was mud and mugging on the route to the final which will now be re-arranged, subject to Morpeth Town's interrupted schedule, and the weather.
