A PONTELAND school served up success to qualify for the final of a regional tennis event.
The top eight Northumberland teams from Years 3 and 4 in area cluster tournaments came together at the County finals of the Tony Blair Sports Foundation Competition — with two teams to progress through to the next round.
There was plenty of good play at the County Ground in Jesmond and it was Darras Hall First School (32 points) that qualified along with St Paul's First School in Cramlington as the two group winners.
A team from Longhorsley St Helen's First School was in Darras Hall's group and came second with 20 points.
The final, which also includes Benedict Biscop Primary School and Cragside Primary School from the Tyne and Wear region, will take place on Friday, July 10 at the Puma Sunderland Tennis Centre.
The competition is sponsored by Northumbrian Water and it is supported by the Lawn Tennis Association, Tennis Foundation and School Sport Partnerships.
