Pocklington 38 Morpeth 10 North One East

MORPETH’S first XV found the going tough in Yorkshire on Saturday.

They conceded six tries in a 38-10 defeat to Pocklington, which made it two away losses in a row.

The home side never looked like losing after taking the lead and the players who touched down for Pocklington were Hardy (two), Nixon, Bishop, Peters and Allen, with Hardy kicking a conversion and two penalties.

Joe Forsythe scored a try for the visitors, which was converted by James Phillips, and Phillips also kicked over a penalty.

Morpeth will aim to get their season back on track when they play Old Crossleyans on Saturday. Kick-off at Mitford Road is 3pm.

There was better news for the third XV (Edwardians) as they recorded a 44-21 away victory at Consett II.

David Pinkney touched down twice and there was a try each for Andy Cowans, Stu Arkle, Alan Fleming, Richard Robinson and Iain Menzies.

Ollie Smith successfully kicked one penalty and two conversions and Andy Lees kicked over a conversion.
