Morpeth Sporting Club 3 New Hartley Juniors 2

ON a glorious Saturday afternoon, Morpeth Sporting and New Hartley served up a feast of football in a five-goal thriller at Craik Park.

Morpeth took the lead with a well worked goal finished off by Rob Haney. However Hartley hit back with a superbly-taken goal by Brad McClellend.

Another well-taken goal, again by Haney, gave the home team a 2-1 advantage as the teams went into half-time.

After the break, the Morpeth lead was extended, with Andy McBride finishing off another good team move.

Lewis Burns completed the New Hartley scoring but Sporting’s defence dealt with the following attacks from the visitors.

This was an entertaining match with both teams playing attractive and skilful football and also in tune with the spirit of the game.
