Morpeth Town 2 Whickham 1 Northern League, Division Two

MORPETH won their second league match of the season on Saturday thanks to goals from Connor Andrews and Cameron Patrick.

Kris Holmes scored for visitors Whickham, but Town defended well and deserved the three points.

But this result was followed up with a 3-1 defeat at home to Seaham Red Star on Tuesday night.

Lewis Turnbull put the away side in front, then Andrews pulled the hosts level.

The crucial moments of the match came in the second half when Red Star took advantage of a dominant spell with goals from Robbie Bird and James Magowan.

Morpeth are at home to North Shields on Saturday, kick-off 3pm, and Crook Town on Tuesday, kick-off 7.30pm.

Season tickets for next season are now on sale and a discount for early birds is available – adults £60 and OAPs/children £30. These are on sale until July 1.

The club is also looking for a physio. For more information about this and season tickets, contact Assistant Manager Lawrence Appleby on 07526 283824.

Children who want to be a ball boy/girl for home matches should turn up 30 minutes before kick-off. Refreshments are provided.
