Champions Ponteland suffer cup exit

STRUGGLING league champions Ponteland United were knocked out of the Northern Football Alliance Challenge Cup in the first round at Percy Main Amateurs this afternoon.

They suffered a 3-0 defeat against the team in sixth place in the Premier Division.

Wallington won 1-2 at Forest Hall to book their berth in Round Two of the Combination Cup.

Amble United march on with another big win, this time in the Combination Cup.

They knocked out Newcastle Chemfica Industrial 6-2 after extra-time, the teams having been level at two goals apiece at the end of 90 minutes, and line up in Round Two.
