Prudhoe YC Yellows U12s 0 Morpeth SC Galaxy U12s 1
GALAXY showed the so-called ‘hallmark of champions’ to claim another win and move just two points away from second-placed Grainger Park despite a below-par performance not helped by a strong wind and steep slope across the pitch.
The odd chance fell to Whittle and Welbury, who both shot narrowly wide from close range.
Otherwise the visitors struggled to get anything past a solid Prudhoe defence. The best chance of the half fell to Farrier, who showed great awareness to lob the goalkeeper from a tight angle, but the ball went narrowly wide of the far post.
At the back, it was a largely untroubled hour for the Galaxy defence although Prudhoe did manage to carve out the clearer opportunities when they got forward.
But Morpeth went in front after 44 minutes as Nellis’ corner was headed in by Farrier for his 10th goal of the season. The team play Wideopen in the final match of the season.
