Galaxy in football heaven

Kingston Park Pumas U11s 0 Morpeth SC Galaxy U11s 2

IT wasn’t a classic, but Galaxy managed to claim the points thanks to two second-half goals against a Kingston Park side, which gave no insight as to why it gets heavily beaten on a weekly basis.

The first half produced a scrappy affair, with most of the action taking place in the KP half.

On the occasions when the home side were able to break forward, the visiting defence were able to deal with the attacks comfortably.

Galaxy could have had a few goals in the first-half, but none of the strikers could get a shot away before being denied the space and time to get the ball under control and shoot.

The second half was also a scrappy affair. The first goal of the match came midway through the second half, as Charlton produced a mazy run down the right-wing before slotting the ball into the bottom corner from a narrow angle.

Soon afterwards, it was 0-2 as Davison got his foot to a loose ball, sending it past the home goalkeeper to secure the points.

There was a moment of panic as Hope was caught out of position following a clearance from Small, but when an opposition striker tried his luck from distance, Hope recovered to make a spectacular save to the delight of his team-mates who were quick to acknowledge the save.

This gave the team their third clean-sheet of the season and their fourth overall.

Team: Hope (man-of-the-match); Farrier, Small (c), Dunn, Andrews; Morrison, Nellis, Whittle, Lawson; Davison, Charlton. Subs: Bickerton.
