PONTELAND United First Team Manager Michael Havelock has recruited two additional assistants for the new season to help him and Colin Bell.
Former Reading and Sheffield United professional footballer Chris Armstrong, whose career was unfortunately cut short in his prime through illness, will be joining his local team and looking to pass on his vast knowledge and experience in the game to the players at his local club.
Chris will also be joined on the management team by Roy Gordon, who was at Newcastle United and Darlington in his late teens, and has since made over 250 appearances in the Northern League for North Shields followed by a spell at Consett.
Roy has decided to hang up his boots following injury and a change in work commitments to pursue a coaching and management career.
Ponteland United has starting pre-season training for both the First and Reserves squads on the back fields at Ponteland Leisure Centre. An open invitation is extended to all players old and new to attend the pre-season sessions and friendly games.
Those who are keen to be involved should contact Club Secretary Alan Birkinshaw on 07774 523762 or Michael Havelock on 07813 108956 to express their interest.
