It was cup excitement for many teams in this afternoon’s Northern Alliance League, with the first round of the George Dobbins League Cup being played.

And there was success for Wallington, who progress to Round Two after a 2-0 home victory over High Howdon SC.

Elsewhere, in Division One, Wooler recorded a high-scoring win at Gosforth Bohemians, coming away with all three points after a 3-5 scoreline.

Ponteland United lost 1-5 at home to Bedlington Terriers Reserves in the same division.

In Division One, Alnwick Town Reserves were beaten 3-0 at Chopwell.
