DIVISION One basement side Forest Hall went into the hat for the next round as they pulled off a surprise 2-0 win at Cullercoats with Dean Smith and Steven Morrison the scorers, writes Jon Tait.
They are joined by Second Division clubs Seaton Burn, who beat Newcastle Diggers United 3-2 with goals from David Hewitt jnr, Sean Bartlett and Mark Braddick, and Tynemouth United who went nap with a 5-2 success over Newcastle Original Masons. Lee Garwood hit two and Chris Garwood, Lee Brady and Aaron Chambers were also on the scoresheet.
But Newcastle Chemfica Independent were dumped out of the competition as they were beaten 4-3 at home by Cramlington Town A. Matthew Harrison, Alex Tooley and Dan Jackson were the Chemfica scorers.
Whitley Bay A’s clash with Hexham was postponed, as was Murton’s Durham FA Trophy tie against Coundon & Leaholm Youth.
South Shields United thumped Howden Le Wear Australian 7-2 in the Durham FA Minor Cup.
SECOND-placed Ponteland United beat Stocksfield 4-0 to move to within four points of leaders Alnwick Town.
Lawrence McKenna scored a hat-trick for Heaton Stannington as they beat Cramlington Town 3-0 and Wark beat Gateshead Rutherford 3-1. Tony Lancaster, Dale Telfer and Matthew McCloughlin were the Wark marksmen, John Dewhurst scoring for the visitors.
The games at Alnwick Town v Harraby CC, Blyth Town v Seaton Delaval Amateurs, Percy Main v Shankhouse, Walker Central v Carlisle City and Ashington Colliers v Killingworth Sporting were all rained off.
MORPETH Sporting Club secured a 4-2 success at North Shields Athletic with Dale Chubb, Graham Carter and Karl Snowden (two) the hit-men. Antonio Mango and Stephen Ardley scored for Athletic.
Newcastle University’s Jonathon Addey and Arthur Okonkwo scored in their 2-2 with Berwick United Ultras and Heddon beat Peterlee Town 2-0. Kevin Urwin and Jonathon Lear were on the scoresheet.
Amble United v Newcastle East End, Gosforth Bohemians v Hebburn Reyrolle and Wallington v Stobswood Welfare were all postponed.
LEADERS Wallsend Town’s good form continued with a 3-1 win over Wideopen and District. Sean Reid (two) and Liam Anderson scored for Town.
Wallsend Boys Club secured a thumping 8-1 win at Simonside SC. Leroy Odd struck four times, while Chris Musgrave and Rob Haney hit two each. Sean Edwards scored a penalty for the home side.
Newcastle BT were beaten 5-0 at home by Swalwell, who had Mark Fitzpatrick (two) Joe Johnson (two) and Mick Hurst celebrating.
Whitley Bay Town beat Cullercoats Custom Planet 3-2. Chris Atkin (two) and Chris Fairley scored for Town with Martin Wardale and Andrew McCartney netting for the visitors. Cramlington United v Willington Quay Saints and Northbank. Red House Farm were off.
