MORPETH SUNDAY LEAGUE ROUND-UP

DIVISION ONE

ONLY three Division One games to report on this week as several of the division’s teams were in Minor Cup action over the weekend.

Topping the table are Pegswood who made it a perfect six wins out of six as they narrowly defeated Red Row Brick 2-1, there was no hat-trick this week but Pegswood’s danger man Ashley McAlpine still managed to get his name on the scoresheet and he now has 16 goals in six games.

Grabbing the other goal for Pegswood was Micky Adamson, with the Red Row reply coming from Kevin Bell.

Amble Tavern got back to winning ways after two consecutive losses by defeating bottom-of-the-table Village Inn Longframlington 10-0, with Josh Hay getting four of the goals, Matty Graham got a hat-trick and completing the victory with a goal each were Mark Hume, Paul White and Brad Wake.

Finally this week was a match between Morpeth Chantry and Amble Dock with the Amble side at last getting themselves three points on the board with a 2-1 win.

Scoring for Amble Dock were Karl Taylor and Ethan Miller with the Morpeth effort coming from Ryan Murphy.

DIVISION TWO

Bomarsund made it five wins from five as they recorded a 5-1 away win to Amble Blue Bell. Scoring for Bomarsund were John Bone and Tony Messenger, with one each, and Kris Grey grabbing a hat-trick, Amble’s consolation came courtesy of Daniel Dewson.

Bomarsund currently sit top of the league and have given themselves a great platform to get promoted at the first time of asking.

Just behind Bomarsund sit Riverside Lodge as they recorded a 7-1 win at home to River Coquet with the goals coming from Nathan Williamson (two), Darren Percy (two), one each from Dan Thompson and Chris Martle, with an own-goal completing the scoring.

Scoring River Coquet’s very first goal this season was their goalkeeper Sean Straker, who may find himself playing outfield next week.

In a nine-goal thriller, Shakespeare Tavern defeated East Chevington 5-4, with their goals coming from Keil Rowlands, Dale Wilkinson, Ritchie Hall, Johnny Young and Sean Black.

Scoring for East Chevington were Jordan Giles, with two, Paul Smith and Darren Smith.

There were goals galore at Felton as they ran out 6-4 winners over Northumberland HMP. Tony Brown helped himself to a hat-trick, Michael Auld got a deadly double and the victory was rounded off by Tom McPherson.

The Northumberland HMP replies were scored by John Hughes (two), Dean Taylor and Dean Brown.

Rounding off this week’s report, we have North End Trap, who put five past Alnmouth Argyle thanks to goals from Josh Baston, Luke Baston, Marc Nixon and a brace from Josh Rollinson.
