Ponteland United’s much-needed victory

MANAGERLESS Ponteland United notched only their second league win of a disappointing season so far, beating fellow strugglers Murton 2-1 this afternoon.

League champions Pont leap-frog their opponents in the Premier Division of the Northern Football Alliance.

This was a welcome relief in the first game since boss Jarrod Suddick resigned after the crushing 4-3 defeat at Gateshead Rutherford last weekend, a game in which they were leading 0-3 at half-time.

Wallington won their derby clash with Morpeth Sporting Club 2-1 to keep up the pressure on the two leading teams, Amble United and Wallsend Town, in Division One.

Full report to come on this website and in the Morpeth Herald on Thursday.
