Morpeth Sunday League round-up Bill Reveley Cup
In the Reveley Cup final on Sunday, Morpeth Shambles triumphed over HMP Northumberland 2-1 after extra-time.
HMP Northumberland took the lead mid-way through the first half through a Jason Singh penalty after a Shambles player handled the ball in the box.
Morpeth then levelled the tie in the second half after HMP Northumberland defender Paul Cochran unfortunately put the ball into his own net.
In the first period of extra-time, Shambles took the lead through Stuart Marshall and they managed to hold onto it to lift the trophy.
In the second leg of the Lewin Cup semi-final, Bedlington Barrington Arms progressed to the final, losing on the day 4-2 to Ashington RAOB but winning the tie overall by a 7-6 aggregate scoreline.
The Monkey were leading 5-2 from the first leg but their advantage was wiped out as Ashington raced into a three-goal lead thanks to a single goal by Mark Race and a deadly double by the excellent Shaun Gibson.
In extra-time, the Barrington got themselves ahead on aggregate scoring twice through Dylan Williamson and David Scott.
Substitute Kristian Priest grabbed a goal late on for The Buffs to ensure a nervy finish but The Barrington held out and will now take their place in the final against Amble Tavern with a date from the league expected to be announced in due course.
In the only Division One game, Amble Tavern defeated Stobswood 4-1 thanks to a brace from Liam Brooks and solitary strikes from Lee Harker and Josh Hay. Stobswood’s goal was scored by Robert Baker.
Division Two also saw just the one game played, as The Elephant recorded a good 3-0 win against Alnmouth Argyle. Scoring for The Elephant were John Sanderson, Brian Brodie and Dan Humble.
