PONTELAND United have won the Northern Alliance Premier Division title, on a dramatic final afternoon of the season.
United needed to win their last game of the 2010/11 term and hope that league leaders Alnwick Town slipped up.
And that proved to be the case.
United took the championship after grabbing the vital three points while Town fell to a 2-1 home defeat against Heaton Stannington.
They did it in tense fashion though, pocketing the all-important winner against Blyth Town in the final 10 minutes to leapfrog their league rivals and snatch the title by a point.
