INJURED soldiers were the main winners of a charity football match at Morpeth Town’s ground on Sunday.

Stephen Spiers and Anna Leathard from the Royal Mail Delivery Office organised the event at Craik Park in aid of Support Our Soldiers (SOS), which is fully endorsed by the MOD.

The two teams – Royal Mail XI and SOS Superstars – had a great game and the final score was SOS 5 Royal Mail 1.

There was also a raffle and buffet and the winning team was presented with an SOS Charity Trophy by Sgt Mick Wade of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.

The £305.99 raised will be used to help wounded soldiers with their rehabilitation at the Headley Court facility in the South East of England.

SOS Area Co-ordinators Glenn and Elaine Middlemiss said: “We cannot thank everyone enough for the donations, Morpeth Town for the use of their facilities for the day, and everyone who gave their time to help us.”
