Morpeth Sunday League roundup (April 1)

ES JOHNSON CHALLENGE CUP

Pegswood Ex-Services beat Amble Pier 81 4-2 to book a final place against Ashington RAOB and the chance to defend the Challenge cup, which they won convincingly last season.

Darren Riddell and Sean Taylor scored for Pier 81, but goals from Wyn Fremlin (two), Stuart Marshall and a penalty from Ashley McAlpine put the hosts through.

DIVISION ONE

Red Row Brick Club enjoyed another win in Division One to move within a point of second place after a 3-1 win over Bedlington Barrington Arms.

Darren Smith (two) and Craig Keen were on target for the Brick. Sean Cowell replied for the Barrington.

DIVISION TWO

Village Inn, Longframlington beat Felton 7-0 thanks to a double hat-trick from Jackie Angus and goalkeeper Sean Hoyle, who dispatched a penalty.

River Coquet FC recorded a win over Felton by the same scoreline.

Morpeth Chantry completed a league double over neighbours Morpeth Riverside Lodge. Matthew Williamson (two), Adam McTaggert and Andrew McKay scored in a 4-2 success, with Scott Marshall and Mikey Scott registering for the Lodge.

Ashington RAOB went nap at home to Blackthorn Rovers. Central defender Gary Bailes scored twice from set-pieces and Craig Robinson, Lenny Lansbury and Jay Gray joined him among the goals in the 5-0 win.

Newbiggin Bankhouse picked up three points after a 4-3 win at North End Trap, Broomhill.
