Does pro-am golf event appeal to you?
ONE of the county’s leading charity golf events is appealing for potential beneficiaries to come forward.
The Northumbria Police Pro-Am Charity Golf Tournament will take place at Matfen Hall on June 30, 2011.
The event, which celebrated its silver jubilee earlier this year, has raised more than £400,000 for local good causes since it started in 1986.
Assistant Chief Officer Bernie McCardle said: “With the help of local businesses, the Pro-Am has been dedicated to supporting charitable organisations for a quarter of a century.
“We look forward to continuing this in 2011 and I would urge potential beneficiaries to put themselves forward for consideration.”
The 2010 Pro-Am raised over £7,500 in aid of the Heel and Toe Centre, which provides conductive education therapy to children with cerebral palsy, dyspraxia and other motor disabilities.
The South Tyneside Football Trust and the Calvert Trust, based at Kielder in Northumberland, also benefited.
Other worthy causes which have benefited from the Pro-Am over the years include the Grace House North East Children’s Hospice Appeal, Northumbria Daybreak, St Oswald’s Hospice and the Percy Hedley Centre.
Potential beneficiaries are asked to write to Secretary for Assistant Chief Officer (Corporate Services), Northumbria Police Headquarters, North Road, Ponteland, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE20 0BL.
The deadline is Wednesday, November 3.
