WITH summer around the corner, Morpeth residents are encouraged to try their hand at bowls.

Four open sessions have been organised by Morpeth Bowling Club for people to resume playing the sport or give it a go for the first time.

They will take place on the greens in Carlisle Park on the following dates and times: Saturday, May 5 (10.30am to 12.30pm); Saturday, May 19 (10.30am to 12.30pm); Saturday, June 2 (1.30pm to 3.30pm) and Sunday, June 10 (11am to 3pm). Those coming along are asked to wear flat-soled shoes or trainers.

l The bowling club’s greens re-open for practice and competitions on Saturday.
