COACHES of Morpeth Rugby Club’s youth teams were given top training tips by rugby stars at a special event.
ESPN analyst and former England international Pete Richards, along with Newcastle Falcons players James Fitzpatrick and Jamie Helleur, led a coaching tuition for grassroots clubs across Northumberland and Tyneside at the Falcons’ Druid Park training ground.
Willi Thompson, Steve Rank, Chris O’Hara and Dave Chattaway were the minis and junior coaches from Morpeth who were involved in the event, which included demonstrations and tactical advice on attacking moves, defence and tackling as well as a question and answer session.
Pete Richards said: “I’m sure this session will be of great value to the coaches that participated.
“The evening was a demonstration once again of ESPN working in conjunction with the Premiership clubs to deliver a top quality session to grassroots rugby and support the development of the next raft of top players.”
ESPN is providing live and exclusive coverage of Newcastle Falcons v Harlequins tomorrow night (Friday). Kick-off is 7.45pm.
