An exciting victory

Mitford (225-9) v Warenford (211) Alnwick and District League

A GOOD team performance helped Mitford to come out on top in this close encounter.

The home side batted first and after openers Bhavesh Patel (21) and Andrew O’Neill (14) were dismissed, Andy Gaynor came to the crease and played some high quality expansive shots.

He soon reached his half century and he received decent support from Yogen Jagatsinh (20). Gaynor was involved in another key partnership with Graham Potts until he was eventually stumped when on 89. Potts finished Mitford’s innings of 225-9 on 55 not out.

Warenford made a game of it in reply, but they were all out for 211 – Sinton top scored with 58. The wickets were shared between Richard Brown, three, Dan Tuite, three, B Shah, two, and Jagatsinh, one. There was also a run out.
