Big victory for Welfare

Civil Service (74) v Stobswood Welfare (75-3) Northumberland Cricket League, Division One

STOBSWOOD bounced back from a big defeat last weekend thanks to an excellent performance from the bowlers.

The hosts batted first and were soon in trouble as Michael Beverley took two early wickets.

Things did not improve and only three men, including Davison (26), reached double figures as the Civil Service were bowled out for 74. The other wickets were shared between Paul Patterson (three), Ian Watson (two), Daniel Watson (two) and Daniel Cook.

The home side’s bowlers dismissed three Stobswood batsmen, including Ian Watson (17) and Karl Watson (11).

But they conceded 35 extras so the visitors reached their target with ease. Antony Wingfield finished on nine not out.
