Consett II v Ponteland II Northumberland & Tyneside Senior League, Division B2
A GREAT bowling display allowed Ponteland to record a comfortable victory at Consett.
John Gardner did the damage early on, as he dismissed the home side’s top three batsmen who scored only 20 runs between them.
There was a slight recovery with David Bridge (20) and Darren Atkinson (29), but once they were out wickets fell at regular intervals.
John Hill and Howard Wright took three wickets and there was also a run out as Consett were bowled out for just 100.
In reply, Ponteland were solid to start with, then raced ahead to reach their target with ease.
Matty Bell was looking good until he was caught on 19, but the home bowlers could not handle Stuart Taylor who hit seven fours and three sixes in his innings of 66 not out.
Jon Varley was 15 not out as the visitors reached 101 to win by nine wickets.
