There were some positives to take from Ponteland’s loss away to the league leaders on Saturday.
Wayne Ritzema batted through the visitors’ innings to finish on 57 not out – the match was reduced to 32 overs a side as there were rain interruptions.
Tom Seymour hit four sixes in his knock of 43 and Ed Common made 14 as Pont, batting first, scored 138 for four.
The home side lost two early wickets, but recovered well and their victory was down to a quick-fire 66 from Greenwell and an innings of 38 not out from Rees.
Ponteland II were at home to Shotley Bridge seconds and they were up against it when they finished their 29 overs on 77 for three. Matt Darwood (36) was their top-scorer. In reply, the visitors reached 78 with 15 overs to spare.
