Defeat for Stobswood

Gateshead Ethnic Minorities (200-5) v Stobswood Welfare (196) Northumberland Cricket League, Division One

STOBSWOOD’S reasonable total was not enough as their opponents had a few batsmen in good nick.

The visitors were in trouble after losing a couple of early wickets, but Karl Watson (23) and Daniel Watson (26) steadied the ship.

David Colam played an impressive knock of 42 and lower order batsman Karl Dullaghan made an excellent 38. There were also 36 extras in Stobswood’s innings of 196 all out.

The home side were in command after an opening partnership between Krishnan (44) and Ahmed (35).

Although Daniel Cook and Michael Beverley took three and two wickets respectively, the game’s top scorer, Mukhtar (64 not out), saw Gateshead Ethnic Minorities home.
