Free games and activities at open day

Morpeth Tennis Club is holding a major open day at its Longhirst Hall grounds on Sunday.

The event, which is being held jointly with Morpeth Cricket Club, has been put together to celebrate the recent installation of three new artificial grass courts, at a cost of £45,260, to replace old, worn-out courts.

All ages will be welcome – juniors and beginners especially as coaching support is available on the day. All tennis is free on the day and racquets and balls are provided.

As well as the opportunity to get involved with tennis games and activities, those who come along between 11am and 4pm can meet with Morpeth Tennis Club members and find out more about membership or playing opportunities without joining.

An informal opening ceremony will take place at 12.30pm and there will be photographs to thank main sponsors SITA Trust (£36,280) and UK Coal (£4,690) for their financial support.

There will also be a barbecue and a bar will be available.
