FUN runners are being invited to take part in a new event at Burgham Horse Trials to raise cash for a North East charity.
Event directors have joined forces with the Percy Hedley Foundation, just announced as Burgham’s official charity partner, to launch a fun run based around a section of the cross country course.
The one-mile run will take place on the opening day – Friday July 22 – and is open to all ages. Participants will pay an entry fee in lieu of the event entrance charge, with all proceeds going to the charity, and will receive a commemorative Burgham t-shirt.
There will be a break in competitions as the run gets underway at 2pm.
Burgham Horse Trials Director Sunil Mehra said: “Our team is working in partnership with the Riding for the Disabled Association and the Pegasus Centre to open the Burgham Horse Trials with a Para Dressage competition for riders with a range of disabilities, including Percy Hedley Foundation users.
“With everyone’s help Burgham will raise a lot of money for this very worthy charity over the three days.”
As well as the fun run, the Percy Hedley Foundation will also have a children’s entertainment tent near the main arenas and staff will be available to give information about the charity’s work with children and adults with cerebral palsy and communication difficulties.
Fundraising Director Des Bustard said: “We were delighted when we were approached by Sunil and asked to be the official charity partner for Burgham. The Burgham team’s determination to make the event fully inclusive fits perfectly with our own ethos.”
Prizes will be awarded for the best fancy dress costume on the day. To take part in the fun run, visit www.percyhedley.org.uk or www.burghamhorsetrials.co.uk
