Good show at Kirkley Hall

THE latest Run Northumberland Half Marathon, which took place on Sunday on a course that started and finished at Kirkley Hall, attracted a total finishing field of 529 competitors, despite the icy and tricky conditions that prevailed throughout proceedings.

Among the leading finishers in both genders were several athletes from Morpeth Harriers.

The club’s leading male finisher was young Matthew Boyle, who finished 29th in 85m11s. Its next male finisher was Hamish McCallister-Williams, who was fifth Over 50 when placing 65th in 90m32s.

Other male runners in the first 200 were Eric Adams (154th) 100m48s, Graeme Leathard (165th) 101m30s, and Scott Wilkes (191st) 103m23s.

In the women’s race, Morpeth Harrier Joanne Brown led the club’s charge in fifth place, in 90m32s, and was first Over-40 veteran lady.

Two places behind her was clubmate Lorna MacDonald, who clocked 91m37s. Jane Briggs was the sixth Over-40 woman, 
finishing 27th in 100m06s, and Shuna Rank took the Over-45 Women’s title, placing 39th in 101m59s.
