Stobswood Welfare (205-9) v Hebburn (190) Northumberland Cricket League, Division One
GOOD contributions from the bat and with the ball helped Stobswood to a narrow victory on Saturday.
The hosts batted first and Antony Wingfield (44), Ian Watson (34) and Daniel Watson (28) all made decent knocks.
There was a lack of runs from the middle order, with only two players just getting into double figures. However, a crucial partnership was put together by number nine batsman David Colam (22) and number ten Michael Beverley (23 not out) as the Welfare finished their 50 overs on 205-9.
Hebburn got close, mainly thanks to a great innings of 84 by Warburton, but Stobswood’s bowlers took wickets at crucial times.
Daniel Cook achieved a five-for, Beverley got three and Paul Patterson and Ian Watson claimed one wicket each.
