CHILDREN from three Northumberland schools put their skills to the test at the Willowburn Disability Cricket Festival.
Pupils from Collingwood School and Media Arts College in Morpeth, as well as Alnwick’s Barndale House and The Grove in Berwick took part in the event.
All three have been involved in the Cricket for Change ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) initiative and around 50 youngsters attended the festival at Alnwick’s Willowburn Sports and Leisure Centre.
It gave them the chance to demonstrate the skills they had previously learnt in lessons at their schools.
The day was split into two sessions. The morning consisted of a number of stations for pupils to practise their various cricketing skills. After a well-deserved lunch break, they went into some impressively contested games, with some excellent batting and fielding on display.
At the end of the day, all pupils received a certificate for completing all the drills and were encouraged to continue playing cricket by advancing to future festivals.
