Morpeth Ladies I 3 Brooklands Poynton I 2
Morpeth played host to a side who were on the back of a good string of results.
The game started at a frenetic pace with both teams trying to gain the ascendency. Moore quickly posed a threat and successfully secured a short corner following a mazy run in the circle. Bryson struck the ball crisply out to her and she clinically smashed the ball passed the sprawling keeper from the edge of the circle.
The Manchester side slowly settled down and started to string a few passes together. Equally, the movement and pace of their strike force managed to put the home defence on the back foot. In a moment of disarray, one of the forwards was left unmarked and ran on to deflect a pass that screamed past the ear of Rose.
Poynton encamped themselves in the attacking circle and drew a number of short corners.
Morpeth picked up their game and another short corner was secured. This time, Moore and Bowler neatly exchanged passes with the former crunching the ball against the backboard.
In the second half, the visitors charging forward determined to get the equaliser. The left wing found a couple of yards in the circle and stroked the ball passed the diving Rose.
Bowler won a penalty corner and a last chance to grab a winner. The ball came out to Hamilton who saw Bowler was free for the angled shot. She took the ball in her stride and calmly shot and saw the ball ricochet around the corner of the backboard.
