Gateshead IV 3 Morpeth IV 3 Club Development League North

MORPETH shared six goals in what turned out to be a hard-fought contest played in heavy rain.

From the start, the visitors were quick off the blocks and within five minutes, good movement down the right allowed Taylor to cross the ball into the D.

The ball eluded Bott’s stick, but he was putting enough pressure on the defender, who turned the ball into his own net.

The game got a bit scrappy, with neither side dominating, although Morpeth created the better chances.

And they went 2-0 in front before half-time. When Bradley Swan received the ball on the halfway line, there seemed little danger to Gateshead, but he skilfully beat three players before calmly slotting the ball under the advancing keeper.

The hosts scored within seconds of the restart and they had a chance to score from a penalty flick, however, Finch in the Morpeth goal made an excellent save.

It looked like the away side would leave with all three points when a Swan cross was stroked home by Taylor, but Gateshead piled on the pressure and got a second, then a wonder goal in the last few seconds made the final score 3-3.
