FREE golf lessons will be in full swing at a number of clubs across the county.
Longhirst and Matfen Hall have signed up to the Get Into Golf sessions, which are open to anyone aged 16 years and over who is looking to take up or return to the sport.
The only stipulation is that you are not a member of a golf club.
The Longhirst course takes place on Sunday, February 5, at 10.30am, and to register call Graham Chambers on 01670 791562, while Matfen Hall’s lesson is being held on Thursday, February 9, at 10am. Call Peter Smith on 01661 886400 to sign up.
Lisa Ferrie, county development officer for the Northumberland County Golf Partnership, said: “The gym isn’t for everyone, but if your new year’s resolution was to get fit or try something new, why not try golf? This scheme means you can try it completely free; all equipment will be provided. It is a fantastic opportunity for people to try a new sport or get back into a sport they used to enjoy and got out of the habit of playing.”
Other clubs holding sessions include Rothbury and Percy Wood (Swarland), both on Saturday, February 18.
